Odyssey Interactive’s eYearbook is a digital yearbook designed to record,
highlight, and commemorate the past year of a high school class.
School Registration
To begin production, your school must first register with Odyssey Interactive. This registration process will enable your school administrators and/or yearbook committee to open an eYearBook database and also create a private and secure account, which will be completely converted into an interactive CD/DVD-ROM at the end of your school year.
To be accepted into our program, a registration must be completed and submitted by an adult (25 years of age or older) and active member of the high school faculty/staff seeking registration. Absolutely NO exceptions will be made to this rule. For students seeking registration, we appreciate your interest in our product and look forward to serving you in the future. However, please contact your high school principal or an appropriate member of the administration staff for registration.
To register your high school, please select the “START A YEARBOOK” button on our splash page or the main navigation page and submit the accompanying application form. An Odyssey Interactive representative will contact you within 24 to 48 hours via telephone and/or email for a free, no-obligation consultation.
Account Access
All Odyssey Interactive eYearbooks require a “School Code”, “User Names” and
“Passwords” for account access. It is solely the responsibility of our users to
maintain and protect user name and password details. We appreciate your
cooperation and careful attention to this matter.
Each eYearbook contains two types of account access: student level and
administrator level access. Privileges within the eYearbook database are
restricted and solely determined by local account access.
Student Accounts
A student account is required to build a basic student portrait and is subsequently opened via your registered email address.
First time users must create a student account, once your high school is registered and an eYearbook has been opened. This is accomplished by logging-in to the database via “New User?” access, which requires your providing the appropriate school code and school password. Once completed, please submit the accompanying registration form to open your individual portrait. Returning users can quickly and easily sign in by selecting the appropriate school code from our drop-down menu on the main navigation page (“Returning User” access) and providing user name and password.
While we do offer the ability to “remember your user name and password”, for security purposes and especially in instances when signing-in to the database on a shared computer, we strongly urge and recommend that users maintain “forget me” sign in access. “Forget me” access will completely sign you and your computer out of our system, so no returning user can go back in to your account and add, edit or delete portrait information.
Administrator Account
One Administrator (Admin) account is required, per school, to incorporate
non-student portrait information. This includes the eYearbook dedication and
colophon (credits), teachers and high school staff, athletics, clubs, events,
awards and other various elements of student life. Additionally, the school’s
admin account maintains full access to all student portraits and may add, edit,
and delete material as required or appropriate.
This account is to be used by the yearbook editor and authorized members of the
yearbook committee.
Report a Concern
At Odyssey Interactive, we strive to create a fun and enjoyable eYearbook
building environment. Occasionally, however, content posted to any public area
of the eYearbook may be found offensive, harassing or inappropriate in nature.
If you encounter any material that is inappropriate, offensive or harassing in
nature to you or others, please report your concern immediately. All concerns
reported will be responded to within 24 hours.
Please refer to Odyssey Interactive “Terms of Use” page for complete details the
regarding the terms of use agreement.
Compilation
Odyssey Interactive eYearbooks are traditionally compiled by individual students
and a yearbook committee, which may or may not be advised by members of the high
school faculty. The yearbook committee usually has one or more editors who are
responsible for collecting, screening and compiling all of the information to be
contained within the eYearbook.
Layout
Layout is the appearance of the eYearbook pages, and it may include the
following elements:
- The Headline: This is a theme or message that ties the page into the story and
draws attention to the reader.
- The Story: This may consist of several paragraphs, which capture the
highlights of a specific department, sports, club, etc., from the past year.
Often, yearbook committee members will either send out surveys or interview
students, teachers and others for comments.
- Photographs: This contains candid photographs of students, suitable to the
page's topic and theme.
- Videography: This contains short video clips of students/student life,
suitable to the page's topic and theme.
- Audio: This contains audio files, suitable to the page's topic and theme.
Much of the Odyssey Interactive eYearbook layout is customizable and “personalizable”.
If desired, student artists will be able to design and submit their own CD-ROM or DVD
labels and also a CD-ROM jewel case cover or DVD-ROM case cover.
Camera/Photography
Students use a digital camera to take photographs and download selected
photographs using a card reader. Upload wizards are dispersed throughout the
database to assist in storing candid photographs to the database.
Schools that use 35mm film cameras to take photographs will require a negative
scanner to digitize pictures. Alternatively, a digital print scanner will allow
the converting of print photographs into digital files (JPEG Image).
Videography
Students use a digital video camera to take video. Once a movie file is created,
this file can be stored to the eYearbook database. Upload wizards are dispersed
throughout the database to assist in storing video clips to the database.
Audio
Students can upload audio files into their student portrait. Due to copyright
restrictions, MP3s (copyrighted music) may not be uploaded to a student
portrait. Upload wizards are dispersed throughout the database to assist in
storing audio files to the database.
Word Processing
Paragraphs of text added to sections, also known as 'copy', is often typed and
edited using a word processing program like Microsoft WORD®, which is then
copied and pasted into the eYearbook.
